To call W. J. Marison a multi-talent would also be an understatement. He is a professional musician, keyboard player, and has already recorded in the studio with the best musicians in Holland. He is also an artist. He is also a producer. He worked in advertising for eighteen years and created his own thriving advertising agency. In view of his anomalous creative potential, it is difficult to believe that he was once an employee and spent his days creating statistical reports. Oh yes, and then there was also writing... True, it was not then, but always, but for a long time it remained deprived. W. J. Marison once wrote a script for a comedy that was never staged, filled two volumes with poetry, but did not spend a single thought on prose. Until, in mid-1993, he began writing a science fiction story—the novel “Sperling” (“Sparrow”)—and submitted it to several publishing houses. Two of them immediately reacted positively, and a new star was born. The now six-book cycle “Die Legende vom Meistermagier” (“Legends of the Master of Magic”) is considered to date the best fantasy series ever written by the Dutchman, and is a classic both in Holland and Belgium. (It was also published in Germany with great success.) Its successor, the Unmagier series, will perhaps be even more successful; The first book in the series has already taken second place in the Elf Fantasy Award competition for the best fantasy book of 2002. The series will also be published in France, and an English translation is also being prepared. Along with this, V. J. Marison also wrote stories that were published in Holland, Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. And, of course, V. J. Marison did not lose his other talents. He designed several covers for his books himself. For two CDs based on the story of the “Master of Magic” - “Master Magician” and “On Goes The Quest” - he composed the music, wrote the lyrics, recorded and published them together with his friends. It is not surprising that this story of his is about music...( A. Eshbach)
