For many generations of science fiction writers and readers, the year 2000 was a mysterious, exciting, unattainable date, a frontier between reality and some foggy tomorrow in which a technocratic paradise or a technocratic hell awaited humanity. Tomorrow came several years ago. Numerous predictions did not come true. Science fiction is not dead, but now writers working in this direction are concerned with other topics and problems related to modernity, in which sometimes the most incredible things happen.
