Laurel HamiltonStories from the collection "Strange Candy"Translation of Translation Laurell`s works Welcome to that part of my world that is most often poured out on paper . Some people see in my stories the premises of a more serious work. The final story, “The Girl Who Loved Death,” was selected by my editor for a collection of stories by mystery authors. So any of my readers could familiarize themselves with it along with the stories of other authors in the anthology. As for the rest of the stories in the collection, they were written by me based on my ideas and imagination. Stories for me are a form of relaxation. It's like traveling to countries where you can do things that you wouldn't do in normal life. These stories describe worlds that you and I have never visited before. Some of them describe the same world that was mentioned in my first novel, The Witch's Vow. For those in the know, it's the same world, but slightly different characters and countries. I think I wrote some kind of fantasy, a mixture of Tolkien and Howard. But as a result, I had to leave the fantasy market in order to start writing what publishers thought they would buy. Today I don’t have stories with fantasy elements. For example, Anita Blake began with the story “Thirsty Forgiveness.” The other “On the Seashore” is still a fantasy that intrigues me. Here is also my only completed science fiction story to date, “Be Dragons.” You will also be introduced to the only story from Anita's world in which you will not find a single familiar character from Sold Houses. I have many ideas for stories, most of them not similar to Anita or Merry's adventures. My unpublished ideas are a rest for the mind. The last thing you think about when you're on vacation is your day job. So how do you feel about a girl who accumulates the power of a vampire, a fairy princess and a private detective, and some erotica? I think you'll wish me good luck.
