This is a story about the legendary hero of the ancient world, the Spartan Xanthippus. He actually saved Carthage from being captured by the Romans in the First Punic War, and the Carthaginians actually repaid him with deep ingratitude. According to sources that have reached us, Xanthippus escaped, but nowhere is it said about his future life. The author managed to recreate the heroic story of a warrior, full of battles, adventures and dangers, and it can be assumed that much of what is told here actually happened.
