Larry Niven is an American science fiction writer. Among the top ten science fiction writers, he ranks with Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke. Over the course of his long creative career, Niven wrote dozens of successful works in which scientific discoveries and futurological forecasts are skillfully combined with exciting adventures. He says about himself and his work: “I started writing thirty-two years ago. Thirty-one years ago - publish. And for thirty-one years I have been creating the history of the future - the history of Known Space. During this period, it stretched forward a thousand years, and the accumulated information allows us to look one and a half billion years into the past. Most of my stories are set in either Human space or Known Space, a much larger volume of space explored by human expeditions but controlled by other races. The routes of individual expeditions extended two hundred light years towards the galactic north and thirty-three thousand light years towards the galactic core." September 1995 Niven was awarded the title of "Grand Master" for his achievements in the genre of science fiction. He was awarded the Hugo Award five times and the Nebula Award twice. He is also the recipient of the Locus Award, the Edward E. Smith Memorial Award, the World Fantasy Award, the Robert E. Heinlein Award, and others. Contents: Known Space (Epic Saga)
