Catherine Lucille Moore (1911–1987) was an American writer, wife and co-author of Henry Kuttner. Her very first story aroused the delight of readers and the praise of the “great and terrible” Howard F. Lovecraft, the creator of the Cthulhu mythology. It was with the story “Chamblo” that the literary life of Northwest Smith began, an outlaw, a conqueror of star tracks and a tireless fighter against alien monsters, a character who became a kind of calling card for Catherine Moore. The marital tandem with Henry Kuttner strengthened the writer’s skill, but for a long time her name remained in the shadow of his famous co-author and husband. Time has put everything in its place, and now the works of Catherine Moore are deservedly included in the golden fund of world fiction.
