By the way, it was Del Rey who proposed a detailed classification of fantasy, highlighting 5 of its categories: — Epic, telling about the struggle between personified good and evil in another fantasy world; — Heroic fantasy set in an ancient barbarian era, “the literature of sword and sorcery”; — Horror stories with dark forces and creatures of abstract evil that evoke irrational fear; — Humorous fantasy, imbued with irony towards magic and everything supernatural; — fantastic conceit, - this is what in Russia is usually called “literary fiction”. Traditional manifestations of fantasy, as well as SF, are usually absent in such works - there are no starships, no magicians with dragons. The plot-forming element is a certain fantastic creature or event that goes beyond the ordinary, but is not magical or supernatural: for example, the hero sees a beautiful girl three times in his life, each time at decisive moments, but never finds out who she is and what is between them there is a connection.
