The second part of the novel “The Cursed Family” is its continuation. Along with the already well-known characters - the dashing Cossack ataman Vanka Knyazhich and the beautiful Elena Ozarchuk, we meet a number of new characters who replaced Sashka Yaroslavets, Emelyan Chub and other brave Russian warriors who fell for the fatherland and faith. Both the old and new heroes of the novel are different and very difficult people, but they are all united by their love for their homeland, which is sometimes “not very affectionate” towards them. The Orthodox faith helps them maintain devotion to their homeland, Holy Rus', the belief that the purity of the immortal soul is more valuable than gold and other earthly joys. And although the action of the second part of the novel also takes place against the backdrop of real historical events: the conquest of Siberia, the accession of Boris Godunov, the struggle for the Russian throne in the era of the “Time of Troubles”, that is, in the “times of bygone days”, many of the problems raised in it are relevant and today.
