A Jewish girl lives under a false name and wanders around France, fleeing the Nazis. She is incredibly lucky: she meets good people along the way, and she finds her calling. She has a camera in her hands, and her photographs are unique evidence of her experience. The author subtly and convincingly shows the growing up of a teenager. This is a book about the power of good, and it is all the more important that this poignant narrative is based on real facts.
