“The Plot Against Terror” tells the story of the events that took place in 1947–1953 in the upper echelon of power in the USSR. It mainly develops around the anti-Jewish campaigns of that time, starting with the dispersal of the Varga Institute, then the murder of Mikhoels, the reprisal against the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee, the case of the Zionist killer doctors, and much more. The young officer Kirill went from a participant in the Patriotic War to SMESH and from there to the investigative department in Lyubyanka and Lefortovo, where he had to part with the naive idealism of his Komsomol youth and deal with matters that later became a disgrace for the history of the country. In parallel with this, events take place, the story of which is told on behalf of Beria, the second most influential in the Politburo after Stalin, where he participates in the complex vicissitudes of intrigue and struggle for power, ending in a conspiracy against Stalin. The paths of the two main characters intersect and merge into one, leading to the fulfillment of the plan. The book is a work of fiction, but nevertheless is entirely based on known historical facts and materials from recently opened archives of the MGB-KGB.
