Army General Vasily Filippovich Margelov (1909–1990) is perhaps the most famous Soviet military leader of the post-war era. He commanded the most heroic troops - the Airborne Forces. He armed them with the most modern weapons, carried out a number of brilliant operations with his “eagles”, after which the Airborne Forces firmly established themselves as the most mobile and daring troops, capable of performing tasks that only they could handle. Margelov’s words: “Nobody but us” became the motto of the Airborne Forces, where the name of paratrooper No. 1 is still surrounded by legends. The famous military writer Sergei Mikheenkov talks in detail and insightfully about the life of General Margelov, which includes the Polish Campaign, the Soviet-Finnish War, the Great Patriotic War, and special airborne missions in Hungary and Czechoslovakia. The book uses rare documents from the archives of the Margelov family, many of them are being published for the first time.
