The book includes stories told and sent to the compiler of the book by northerners, mainly residents of the Arkhangelsk and Vologda regions, the Komi Republic, the Republic of Karelia and other cities and villages of Russia. The stories are genuine and very instructive: about love and betrayal, about the intricacies of fishing, about bad habits and how to get rid of them, about evil spirits and folk recipes for illnesses and diseases... A. Roskov remembers some stories from his youth, some were written down by him in his mature years. For the last twenty-odd years he has been working in newspapers, ten of them as editor of the newspaper “Zavalinka” (Publishing House “Northern Week” LLC, Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Region). In the newspaper, he more than once announced a short story competition on one topic or another. Two years ago, Alexander, when meeting with his friend and classmate at the Literary Institute, Konstantin Savelyev, who lives in Ukraine, told him several similar stories, and he got the idea: why not publish these stories as a separate book? And here it is - this book!
