The monograph, using the example of the Tver province, analyzes the essential features and characteristics of one of the main factors of the destructive Civil War in Russia - the peasant insurgency. The evolution of the peasantry's attitude towards Soviet power, its direct dependence on the Bolshevik policy towards the countryside, is traced. Uprisings and speeches are considered, information about which is available both in open repositories and other publicly available sources, and in the departmental archive of the Federal Security Service. The forms of peasant open protest are analyzed: from small skirmishes with poor peasants' committees and food detachments to large-scale armed uprisings of the greens, as well as phenomena of political banditry.
