This book is a collection of articles and interviews published in the 90s in the Rostov business weekly "City N". Articles and interviews have been selected to create a kind of diary of the Yeltsin era. During this decade, in the Russian public consciousness, the thirst for freedom that destroyed the Soviet empire was replaced by a thirst for order that could create a completely new state. All this is reflected in global political processes and in the experiences of individual people. The book presents the main storylines of the Yeltsin era: the confrontation between communists and democrats, the first experiences of elections, the confrontation between the Center and the regions, love and hate in relations with the West, the formation of a new bureaucracy and new journalism, the development of the city and the quirks of Rostov’s identity, etc. In order to ground the chronicle pathos of the collection, the book also provides utilitarian possibilities. For example, in addition to information about various characters and processes, here you can find the results of all elections of the last decade of the 20th century in the Don. There is a unique opportunity, using the name index of the collection, to compile a dossier on almost all the main political figures of the Rostov region - to trace their actions and statements over the course of a decade.
