The action of the new novel by Andrei Dmitriev, a famous Russian prose writer, winner of many literary awards, takes place in our time in Ukraine, where the hero of the novel, a retired school teacher, flees from Russia, driven by his own fears and a combination of absurd circumstances. Thanks to a chance meeting there, the hero’s second life begins - a dramatic continuation of the first. Andrey Dmitriev is faithful to the literary tradition and will not disappoint the expectations of those who have already appreciated his “Turn of the River”, “Closed Book”, “The Way Back”, “Bay of Joy”, “The Peasant and the Teenager”. But like any great master, with each work he reveals a new side. “This Shore” is certainly a tragedy. But a tragedy created according to the laws of the comedy of errors. This happens in life, and Dmitriev knows the unpredictability of life no worse than the laws of the genre - you believe him.
