Based on the verses of K.R. many popular romances were written, and the words of the folk song “He died, poor fellow” also belong to him. However, not everyone knows what is behind the initials K.R. hidden is also a great statesman - a warrior at sea and on land, a Knight of St. George, commander of the famous Preobrazhensky Regiment, long-term president of the Russian Academy of Sciences, organizer of scientific expeditions to the Karakum, Spitsbergen, Sannikov Land, creator of the Pushkin House and the first higher educational institution in Russia for women, as well as the first commissions to help needy writers, scientists, and musicians. His friendly circle included the most brilliant people of Russia: Dostoevsky, Goncharov, Fet, Maikov, Polonsky, Tchaikovsky, Glazunov, Vasnetsov, Repin, Koni, Admiral Makarov, Sofia Kovalevskaya...
