All Kirell wanted was to return home with his mate, to love her and be sure that she would never suffer again. All Autumn wanted was to make Monda her home, to love Kirell and maybe , to find a family. Some on Mondu are happy about the return of the High Ones and are ready to support them, but there are also those who are not at all happy. Change entails confrontation. They change lives. Things only get worse when it turns out that one of the Council elders is wearing around his neck a gem that the Varanians took from Jack, Autumn's brother. The High Ones have returned to Monda, and old enemies have raised their heads.
