Wanting to calm the Indians who are threatening unrest, the US government is launching the “Brides for Indians” program, under which women who are physically healthy and capable of bearing and raising children are offered marriage to Cheyenne warriors. To keep this plan secret, women in prisons, psychiatric hospitals and difficult life circumstances are recruited to participate in the program.
