This is a story about a difficult youth in the cramped walls of a military school, about sudden loud literary fame, about the fragility of first success, the coldness and caustic ridicule of yesterday's friends, about painful doubts and persistent searches for one's own path in life and in literature. This is a story about the incessant intense search for a new truth unknown to the world, about the search that led a frantic dreamer to hard labor bunks... Without betraying the aspirations of his youth, the writer embodied them in a different way in the works of his mature age.
