The title of the novel by a Swiss prose writer, laureate of the Prize. Ernst Wilner, Heinz Helle (b. 1978) “Love. Football. Consciousness" conveys its content very accurately. The hero of the novel, a German student studying philosophy in New York, is trying to apply the theory of consciousness to his own sense of life and to understand his relationship with the woman he loves, but he succeeds very poorly in both. But he quite manages to spend time in the bar and watch football. This is the first acquaintance of the Russian reader with the author, who is gaining increasing popularity in Europe.
