The action in the work takes place in the ancient city of Phasisi, where the historian Herodotus comes and where wonderful stories happen to him. First of all, he discovers that he has found himself in a city where time has strangely disappeared and where people of different generations and even eras live side by side. In this world, everything is as usual, except that time itself is missing. Only later does it become clear that Herodotus was sleeping, and this whole story about events that had not yet occurred, and about people, many of whom had not yet been born, he simply dreamed. From different angles, he saw the entire subsequent history of this city and, through its prism, the entire history of mankind with its birth, growing up and old age. The dream disappears without a trace in the first seconds after waking up. Afterwards, Herodotus could not remember what the dream was about, he only remembered that it was too strange and unusual. Perhaps our life is just a dream, and we are fleeting guests in this world. Both before and after lies the ocean of eternity, and life - here it is - and there it is not.
