Vladimir Kedrov’s historical adventure novel “To the End of the World” is a fascinating story about Russian explorers of the 17th century. The main characters of the novel, Semyon Dezhnev and Fedot Popov, and their comrades made a truly outstanding geographical discovery of that time, passing through the strait (now the Bering Strait) between Asia and America. Their campaign can fully be called heroic, because in fact it was proof of the possibility of the Northern Sea Route. Incredible difficulties in the fight against the ice of the treacherous Icy Sea - the Arctic Ocean - with the harsh nature of the Far North, overcoming dangers, the resourcefulness and ingenuity of Russian explorers, their perseverance and courage - all this creates a unique flavor of the story.
