The book is dedicated to the work of the famous Russian-French jurist of the 20th century, one of the founders of the sociology of law as a scientific discipline, Georgy Davidovich Gurvich (1894–1965). The thinker's views are presented in the context of his intellectual biography, which allows us to better understand the vicissitudes of the development of the scientist's worldview. The work consists of two large blocks. The first, analytical, highlights Gurvich’s life path, examines the main elements of his teaching, and analyzes concepts. The second block contains the works of the thinker, including unpublished ones, a number of archival biographical and epistolary materials.
