The story “Taiga Vespers” is written based on real events. A former orphanage resident once saw the death of two bear cubs in the taiga at the hands of poachers, buried the animals, built a chapel on their grave and remained to live nearby. This is a story about the difficult relationship of the protagonist with a half-tamed bear, with priests who came from the monastery to consecrate the chapel, with tourists and idle people, with the girl Katya, who sought protection in him. The story “First Name” is about an unexpected turn in the love story of a twenty-year-old guy, who came to the village to work in the house-museum of the Silver Age poet, who lived here in exile. The main character finds the diaries of an exiled poet, he tries to understand his fate and compares the feelings described many years ago in the diary with his love. Six stories are dedicated to the nature and people of Siberia. Their heroes are hunters and fishermen, artists and tramps - people who find themselves in difficult life situations.
