1950 A caravan of a lighter with fishermen and a barge-prison sets off for the North along the great Siberian river. But fatally, an ordinary flight turns into a road of death: a young prisoner, shot while trying to escape, drowns, a soldier-escort and his would-be mistress, the young daughter of the barge skipper, die.
