The book includes stories by writers who received the main literary awards in Cuba - named after Alejo Carpentier and Julio Cortazar. Ten stories are interesting because they are written in a different literary style, different from the Russian or European one. Collected together, these stories - dissimilar from each other in style, plot, tone of narration - form a single whole and seem to be conducting a lively dialogue with each other, in which sly and hot humor, matching the Cuban temperament, meets the tart bitterness of tragedy, and life appears as a tangle strange and inexplicable events.
