In 1950, Vasily Yan described S. D. Krzhizhanovsky (1887-1950) as a writer whose “presence” would do honor to any literature in the world... however, only now is Krzhizhanovsky’s prose, which originates from Swift, becoming the property of a wide readership and Poe, Hoffmann and Chamisso, Meyrink and Perutz, and in Russian literature - from Gogol’s “Petersburg Tales”, from V.
