In 1950, Vasily Yan described S. D. Krzhizhanovsky (1887-1950) as a writer whose “presence” would do honor to any literature in the world... however, only now is Krzhizhanovsky’s prose, which originates from Swift, becoming the property of a wide readership and Poe, Hoffmann and Chamisso, Meyrink and Perutz, and in Russian literature - from Gogol’s “Petersburg Tales”, from V. Odoevsky and some things by Dostoevsky. This collection includes stories and short stories by Krzhizhanovsky: “Autobiography of a Corpse”, “The Return of Munchausen” , “The Wandering “Strange””, “The Letter Killers Club”, “Bookmark”, “Materials for the biography of Gorgis Katafalaki”, “Memories of the Future”, almost all published for the first time, as well as memories of the writer his wife A. Bovshek and close people who knew him.

Книга "Повернення Мюнхгаузена" - це справжній скарб для всіх шанувальників літератури, яка поєднує в собі елементи фантастики, гумору та глибоких роздумів. Проза С. Д. Кржижановського, яка, безумовно, заслуговує на широку увагу, вражає своєю оригінальністю та стилістичною витонченістю. Читачі мають можливість зануритися в його творчість через повісті, новели та спогади, що відкривають нові грані його таланту. Особливо вразили спогади про самого автора, які додають особистісного виміру до його творчості. Ця книга не лише знайомить з творчістю Кржижановського, але й запрошує до роздумів про місце літератури в нашому житті. Я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто цінує глибокі, але водночас легкі для сприйняття твори, що залишають по собі слід у серці та розумі.
