“Return to Malpaso” is the second book by St. Petersburg writer Viktor Semyonov. It consists of two stories, connected by characters and setting. In the first, the usual summer trip of a twelve-year-old boy with his dad and friends draws them into a real cycle of adventure, full of laughter and unexpected turns. In the second, the matured hero, after a while, returns to St. Petersburg to set up his father’s business projects, not realizing that seemingly simple procedures will turn into a repetition of the labors of the great Hercules for him. An ironic and talented hero, he evaluates what is happening to him through the prism of humor and optimism, finding ways out of seemingly difficult situations.
