The Third Reich has long been history, but the art that it left behind still attracts the attention of not only historians and art critics, but also those interested in architecture, sculpture, painting, music, and cinema. There is no denying the fact that the Nazis' goal, first and foremost, was propaganda, and art was only a means. However, this is not a reason to send an entire layer of German culture into oblivion. The art of Nazi Germany did not arise out of nowhere; it was largely predetermined by earlier periods, especially the era of the Weimar Republic, which gave the world an incredible number of big names. Of course, many talented people left Germany when Hitler came to power, but there were also those who remained in their homeland and created for their compatriots: artists, sculptors, architects, musicians and actors.
