“Harutyun Khalibyan” opens a new book series “The Life of Remarkable Nakhichevan Residents”. This work is not just a biography of one of the residents of the “city that does not exist” (as Georgy Bagdykov once called Nakhichevan-on-Don), the purpose of this work is to show how a unique portrait of A. P. Khalibyan, painted by a genius of seascape painting, has survived to this day I. K. Aivazovsky makes it possible to evaluate the appearance of a man who lived in the first half of the 19th century and led the independent Armenian city of Nor-Nakhichevan. The book is an attempt not only to study, but also to evaluate his activities as the mayor, who made a huge contribution to the formation and development of trade, handicrafts, and education of his native city. After all, undoubtedly, the fact that contemporaries called Nor-Nakhichevan (Nakhichevan-on-Don) one of the best cities in the south of Russia was largely due to the merits of A. P. Khalibyan.
