Kader Abdola (b. 1954) is a famous Dutch writer, a representative of the “Eastern current” in modern literature. Born in Iran, after graduating from the University of Tehran in 1977, he joined the leftist movement, which is why he was forced to flee the country. Lives in the Netherlands since 1988. In 2009, Kader Abdola was awarded the title of honorary professor at the University of Groningen. Kader Abdola's works are most often autobiographical. Having left his native country physically, Abdola still maintains spiritual ties with Iran, using motifs and quotes from classical Persian literature. Abdola's heroes, having once lost their homeland, strive to rediscover themselves in a new place, to become part of their new environment, without losing their own national traits.
