The novel Lady Musashino, published in 1950, as well as the film based on it a year later, brought Ooka Shohei, a classic of 20th-century Japanese literature, universal recognition. His works, among which the most famous are “Notes of a Prisoner” (1948) and “Lights on the Plain” (1951), were highly appreciated not only in Japan - the famous contemporaries of the writer Yukio Mishima and Kenzaburo Oe paid tribute to his talent - but throughout world. This edition is the first publication in Russian of one of the writer’s most deeply psychological and dramatic novels.
