During the First World War, this battleship became the most famous Russian ship and not just a “headache”, but a real obsession for the German command - in all plans of German operations of 1915–1917. in the Baltic the focus was on Slava. The Kaiser himself more than once demanded to do away with the hated battleship, which was the center and fulcrum of the entire defense of the Gulf of Riga, having played a decisive role in thwarting the first and second attempts of the German fleet to break through to Riga, and then to Petrograd. Neither enemy dreadnoughts, nor destroyers and submarines, nor zeppelins and airplanes were able to defeat the Russian battleship, which had already become a strategic factor. In the entire military history, there are only a few ships that could compare with the “Glory” in terms of influence on the course of sea and land battles. It was thanks to the legendary battleship that the German fleet stopped active hostilities in the Baltic for two years. The fifth and last ship of the tragic series “ Borodino", unlike her brothers who did not survive the shame of Tsushima, this battleship died in glory, fully justifying its proud name - sunk by the crew at the entrance to the Moonsund Strait, even after death, the "Glory" remained an insurmountable obstacle for the enemy.
