Technological progress has made our life civilized and comfortable. Today we look with horror at the dark Middle Ages and no less terrible antiquity. But it turns out that our attitude towards the past is completely unjustified. The author made a comparative analysis of ancient and modern Western society and argues that life in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome in many aspects was not only not inferior, but (imagine!) even superior to modern life!
