Cecil Roth is a famous British researcher and a leading specialist in the history of Jews, the author of many works on this topic, and represents the Venetian life of the Jewish community in the 15th-17th centuries. Based on historical research and documentary materials, Roth created a vivid, interesting and dramatic picture of the daily life of Jews in the Venetian Republic in the territory allocated to them, called the ghetto. The author talks about the role that Jews played in the life of Venice, describes the structure of society, and draws portraits of many outstanding people who played an important role in the development of science and culture.
