This volume of the series “Book Centers of Ancient Rus'” is dedicated to the Solovetsky Monastery. It examines the oldest manuscripts of the Solovetsky Library, which, according to legend, belonged to the founders of the monastery Zosima and Herman; The scope of the book heritage of Abbot Dosifei, one of the first collectors of the monastery library and the creator of the lives of the Solovetsky saints, is explored. Much attention is paid to the study of works associated with the name of Metropolitan Philip; analysis of the personal lives of the Solovetsky saints; the study of monastic teaching collections, in which the experience of Christian asceticism was systematized and the works of the church fathers of the hesychast tradition were collected. A separate work concerns the study of the bindings of Solovetsky manuscripts of the 16th century. A number of articles are devoted to unique author’s collections preserved in the Solovetsky Library: Ermolai-Erasmus, Sergius Shelonin, Archimandrite Nikanor. Of particular interest are articles related to the topic of the siege of the Solovetsky Monastery of 1668-1676. and the Old Believer history of Solovki. The study of individual literary monuments is accompanied by the publication of texts, among them: a service to Metropolitan Philip (original edition), Chronograph of Sergius Shelonin, Life of the Monk Epiphanius, Life of Job Ushchelsky. The collection is compiled based on the materials of the conference “Book Heritage of the Solovetsky Monastery of the XV-XVII centuries”, held at Solovki in 2005.
