The book presents for the first time the experience of the pedagogical work of the outstanding stage master, director G.A. Tovstonogov. More than fifty years of his life were devoted to the education of actors and directors. Over these years, a holistic system of education was formed - the Tovstonogov directing school - based on the traditions of Russian stage pedagogy, marked by the originality of the individuality of its creator. This school continues and develops, reinterprets, gives a new interpretation of the fundamental principles of the teachings of K.S. Stanislavsky, in particular, his method of effective analysis of the play and role and the method of physical actions.
