The novel “Running” is a witty, brilliant, funny and unpredictable story, written in the 60s of the last century by one of the best feuilletonists of the leading humor magazine of the country of the Soviets “Crocodile” Yuri Alekseev. Players, newspaper employees, newspaper businessmen, sculptor , suffering from gigantomania, various kinds of scoundrels, bohemians and individuals who cling to her with an uncertain past and an even more vague future... Everything is like today: funny, absurd, ridiculous. But very truthful and incredibly talented.

...Everything is the same as today, although there were still a decent number of years left before the opening of an unlimited number of casinos and slot machines in our country...The novel is replete with the most colorful characters: everyone is running somewhere and what -they are looking for the unknown. The author ironically observes this running around, and with him, I have no doubt, the readers will have unbridled fun, marveling at the modernity of the characters and plot twists... After all, we, like the heroes of this book, are constantly on the run for unknown things, still hoping to catch “Emelina’s pike” in order to live “according to the pike’s command, according to my desire...”

Arkady Arkanov

It’s very good that there is such a novel “Running,” because if it didn’t exist, it certainly should have been written. And it is a great pity that Yuri Alekseev did not live to see this day. First of all, because now the novel is relevant, perhaps even more so than at the time when it was written. His characters are incredibly recognizable, the situations are comical, and the author’s style is so brilliant that you want the novel not to end as long as possible. The profession of a satirist is one of the most difficult, in my opinion. After all, in order to write truly funny, you need great talent and a special view of the world around you. Yuri Alekseev, undoubtedly, was awarded these qualities very generously and in “Running” this is felt especially acutely.

Emmanuel Vitorgan

At one time, Yuri Alekseev shone as a feuilletonist of “Crocodile”, and today he appears to the city and the world as a brilliant, accurate prose writer, having fallen into this binding with the light hand of the Zhuk publishing house... Really, it’s worth opening this book, and it’s a pity that its author will not share with us the joy of this discovery... The book is killer funny, executed with brilliance, in the best traditions of high satire and, what is most valuable, readable today, when this very concept of “Running” is so relevant and multi-valued. Much in this book, written long ago, will give the bitter joy of recognition... Funny and talented - a rather rare combination. This is as rare as the triumph of Justice. Which, according to the poet, always triumphs “for some reason later.” But he is triumphant. And this is just that rare case. And the book “Running” is a found treasure that we are happy to share even with the state...
