Joe Boyd is a legendary person. He is not just a witness to what happened in the sixties, he is a participant and in many ways a driving force. At the Newport Festival, when Bob Dylan first took to the stage with an electric guitar, Boyd was sitting at the controls. Having moved to London, he opened the famous UFO club, where Pink Floyd and many other legendary performers first performed. Boyd produced the first Floyd recordings with Syd Barrett, as well as Fairport Convention, The Incredible String Band and Nick Drake. This is perhaps the most truthful book about sixties, written by a man who has every right to say: “...I lived then, and I remember them.”
