The book of the French archaeologist and writer Ferdinand Lallemand “Pytheas. The onboard diary of an ancient navigator" is devoted to a description of the journey to the countries of "tin and amber" of the outstanding Greek scientist - mathematician, astronomer, geographer and ethnographer - Pytheas from Massalia (Marseille), who was a contemporary of Aristotle, Demosthenes and Alexander. It is known that Pytheas left notes about his adventures, which were lost after the capture of his hometown by the Romans. F. Lallemand’s book is a work of fiction written in the genre of a travel diary, which makes it unique when applied to an ancient character.
