The debut novel of the great-great-great-granddaughter of the great writer, American classic Herman Melville, is compared to the novel of another classic - “The Great Gatsby” by F. S. Fitzgerald. An island in the Atlantic, a wonderful holiday destination with summer houses, tennis and cocktails on the lawns. Beautiful and broken people against the backdrop of a beautiful landscape floating in the haze. Cousins Nick and Helena have been connected since childhood; the old Tiger House, where they always spent their summers, is a symbol of happiness for them. But childhood is gone, as is happiness. The war has just ended, taking Helen’s lover and breaking something in the relationship between Nick and her fiancé. But young women believe that all troubles are behind them. And yet the gilding of their artificial happiness will soon begin to crack. Helena's husband turns out to be not the man he seemed, and Hughes returned from the war as if he had faded away. Nick and Helena spend every summer on the Island, at the Tiger House, trying to recreate that old feeling of happiness. The harsh and desperate Nick does not understand the apathy into which the soft and indecisive Helena, who has connected her life with a strange man from Hollywood, is sinking deeper and deeper. Both of them constantly feel that death is always nearby, that it only gave them a break. Behind the facade of idyllic country life are hidden fears, secret desires and dangerous feelings. "Tigers in Red" is a family drama and a sensual psychological novel with beautiful characters and a surprisingly warm atmosphere. Lisa Klausmann mosaics an elegiac and suspenseful story in which storm clouds swell over a sun-drenched Island, and soon a fragile paradise will find itself in the very eye of the storm.
