The second volume of the Reader “Ancient Rus' in the light of foreign sources” contains the publication of Byzantine monuments translated from Greek, which reflect the events of the history of the peoples of Eastern Europe, Rus' and its neighbors in the 4th-13th centuries. The first part of the publication is devoted to early Slavic history and the era of the Great Migration of Peoples, which affected the southern territories of our country, the Black Sea region, the Lower Danube region, and the North Caucasus. The second part publishes evidence about Ancient Rus'. Byzantine sources reflected the relationship of Byzantium with Russia and the nomads of the Black Sea region, as well as various aspects of the military-political, diplomatic, dynastic, trade, economic, church, administrative and legal life of the Eastern European region during the “Byzantine millennium.”
