The seven-headed ogre Delbegen haunts civilians, and no one is able to defeat him. Following the prediction of the old shaman, the ten-year-old daughter of the Khan of Altai, Princess Kadyn, sets off with her faithful friends - the horse Ochy-Dyeren and the lynx cub Grumpy - to fight the cannibal. On their way lie the unpredictable Altai Mountains, encounters with evil spirits, almys, bloomers, witches and griffins. Princess Ukoka (or Altai princess, Kadyn) became the prototype of Princess Kadyn. The mummified body of a girl was found in 1993 by Novosibirsk archaeologists on the Ukok plateau in the Altai Republic. Its age is three thousand years, and this find is one of the most significant discoveries of Russian archeology of the late 20th century. For Altaians who profess shamanism, Kadyn is a deeply revered foremother, a national symbol.
