The life of Arkady Aleksandrovich Rylov coincided with the most difficult era of Russian history and culture - 1870-1930. And despite his quiet fame, the work of this artist represents an important part of Russian culture in the first third of the 20th century, one of its most inspired and poetic pages. In Rylov’s paintings it is not difficult to see the features of the complex and contradictory world of that artistic era, in which tendencies and influences of very different kinds were intricately intertwined. The artist belonged entirely to the general flow of Russian art; he was firmly integrated into it, since he was receptive to everything new, to the broadest search for artistic truth. But against the backdrop of the storms of his time, Rylov is one of the most harmonious artists; he melted everything that his time gave him into a holistic and unique picturesque world, which everyone can admire, regardless of their aesthetic beliefs.
