Edwin Hubble received a higher legal education, but thanks to his passion for cosmology, he became one of the greatest astronomers of the 20th century. His work expanded our understanding of space beyond the Milky Way: Hubble discovered and classified distant galaxies, and in 1929 he proved that the Universe is expanding. The Hubble Space Telescope continues to map the Universe, just as the American astronomer himself did for 30 years.
