This book is for people with strong nerves and a strong stomach - Richard Laymon's second novella (first published in 1981) is now published without the barbaric interference of editors. In ominous tones, the book tells the terrible adventures of three different groups of people - travelers Nila and Sherry, teacher Lander Dills, who is on vacation, and his family, and local resident Johnny Robbins. They are all trying to escape from a tribe of cannibals living in the forest, calling themselves the Kralls. For several centuries, bloodthirsty cannibals have demanded that the inhabitants of the nearby town of Barlow supply them with food and reproduction for passing tourists. In a desperate struggle for survival, completely civilized victims are reduced to the same inhuman behavior exhibited by their persecutors. This is Lymon's first novella, in which people are forced to express their hidden carnal desires and predatory instincts, released almost three decades after the author's death.
