Yulia Konstantinovna Zhukova volunteered for the Red Army at the age of 18. In 1944 she graduated from the Central Women's Sniper Training School. Over several months of difficult fighting in East Prussia, the girl sniper had the opportunity to be both on the offensive and in retreat, to experience the hardships of being surrounded for many days and the threat of captivity. Yu. K. Zhukova’s official combat account lists 8 killed enemy soldiers and officers, including one sniper. Yu. K. Zhukova was awarded two medals “For Courage.”

For the first time, the book tells so openly and vividly about the training, service and life of female snipers, their combat work in the trenches of the Great Patriotic War.
