Welcome to the forum...Topic: "The World of Interbase.." or "FireBird.." What to choose
Hello, Gentlemen! I'm slowly starting to get acquainted with InterBase and decided to buy a book (since from the monitor quite hard to read). After reading the reviews, I realized that I would have to choose between “InterBase World” (Kovyazin, Vostrikov) and “FireBird. Database Developer's Guide) (H. Borrie). Unfortunately, there is not enough money for both. In this regard, the questions are: · Which of these books is more accessible for a beginner just starting to study DBMS and database design · To what extent are these books, so to speak, interchangeable. Those. to what extent the knowledge gained from a book about InterBase (for example) is applicable to working with FireBird and vice versa.
Thank you all in advance for your answers.
Regards, Londinium

1. If you are a complete beginner, then take the first one - it is more accessible.2. If you are new to information security only, then the second one is better.3. It is advisable to have the second book at hand in any case - regardless of whether you have the first one.4. Important - in the second there is nothing (it seems) about access libraries (IBX, FIBPlus).5. The knowledge about InterBase obtained from the first book is applicable to FireBird almost in full.
