LINKOV LEV ALEXANDROVICH was born in 1908 in Kazan, in the family of a teacher. He spent his childhood and youth in the city of Gorky. He worked at a factory as a milling machine operator, then as an inspector of the Workers' and Peasants' Inspectorate. He studied at pedagogical and architectural institutes. The first essays, stories and feuilletons by L. Linkov were published in 1930 in the Gorky regional Komsomol newspaper “Leninskaya Smena”. Since 1932 he has worked for Komsomolskaya Pravda, then served in the border troops. In 1939, based on a script by L. Linkov, a film about sea border guards, Sea Post, was produced. In 1940, a book of his stories “Pathfinder” was published in Detgiz, and in 1948, in “Young Guard”, a story about Soviet intelligence “Captain of the Old Turtle” was published. The story was republished several times in our country and in people's democracies and was filmed in 1956. Among L. Linkov's books are novels and stories about border guards: “The Source of Life”, “Brave Hearts”, “The Post of the Seven Heroes”, “The Big Horizon” , “The Kid from the Big Tributary”. Currently, L. Linkov is completing work on a novel from the history of the Cheka.
