Young Fiora grew up without knowing sadness in the house of her adoptive father, a wealthy Florentine who hid the tragic secret of her birth from everyone. The French envoy Philippe de Selonger, who learned this secret, demanded for his silence the right to marry the beauty and spend one night with her. The next morning Philip left in search of military exploits and, perhaps, death, for he had sullied the honor of a nobleman by marrying one who was born at the foot of the scaffold. And Fiora goes to France to find and punish those responsible for the death of her parents.
